Tanglewood House

Tanglewood House is a luxury B and B. Just a 200 mtr. level walk from the centre of the stunning fishing village of Mevagissey. We will welcome you to Tanglewood with a warm reception and all the information you need to enjoy the house and the many delightful attractions the area holds. The Eden project and The lost Gardens of Heligan ( just a 15 minute walk away) are two of the more well known ones. There are lots more hidden gems that we can recommend and all only a short drive from your central base at Tanglewood House, Mevagissey.

Pre-Arrival

• Tanglewood is set back from the main road leading to the village of Mevagissey.

• The nearest train station is St Austell  6 miles away, taxi’s always available, or we can book them in advance for you.
• The bus stop is only a minutes walk, you can travel all over Cornwall from the main bus station located 6 miles away at StAustell
• The nearest airport is Newquay approximately 35 minutes away.
• Car hire is available from Truro station, which is approximately 17 miles away
• The village of Mevagissey has all your dining and shopping needs, see the list of restaurants on the Tanglewood web site.

Arrival and car parking

• On booking, an estimated time of arrival is requested so that we can ensure that we are here to welcome you.
• To ensure your accommodation is ready, we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 2.00 pm. Earlier arrival may however be possible by prior arrangement.
• We are happy to assist guests with luggage.
• On arrival guests are required to complete a registration form.
• On the level, gravel car park, there are no marked parking bays but there is ample, free parking for up to seven cars.
• The car park, the paths and steps (5 steps on the path and 4 steps into the house) are all very well lit at night.
• The front door is always locked so on arrival you will need to ring the bell, located at the left of the door .
• From the entrance hall the stairs have 14 wide steps to the first floor leading to the bedrooms. Handrail fixed on the left hand side.
• We always personally greet guests on arrival and show them to their rooms and then around the property.

Guest areas and dining room

• Tanglewood House is fully double glazed and centrally heated throughout.
• The dining room / sun room is carpeted, light and airy, here you will be served breakfast. There are tables chairs and arm chairs in this area, the sun room is  always available for  guests to sit, read, relax, and chat.
• The property is central heated with thermostatic valves to control your room temperature.
• The guests are welcome to use the well stocked gardens and seating areas (japanese water garden under construction, opening soon).
• Stairs and hallways are all carpeted.

Bedrooms

• Guest bedrooms are located on the first floor.
• We have three en-suite rooms fully carpeted and central heated.
• The beds are all full double size.
• The beds are dressed with top quality designer bedding, under sheets, synthetic duvets and pillows, throws are on the beds or in the wardrobes .

• All our rooms have: 26” TV/DVD, free view, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, wardrobe space, table, chair, hospitality tea/coffee trays, mirrors, bed side tables/ lamps and wi/fi internet.
• There is a folder in each bedroom which contains detailed information about the facilities offered, the local area, things to do and emergency contacts.

En-suites

• All en-suites have shower, basin, toilet, hand towels, bath sheets. and a range of luxury toiletries.

Additional information

• Tanglewood has a fully linked fire alarm, with emergency lighting.
• Fire procedure notices are displayed in each bedroom.
• In the event of fire or the sound of the fire alarm evacuate down the main staircase and out the front door to the right .
• We are happy to cater for vegetarians and special diets of any kind. Please advise us at time of booking.

• Mobile phone reception is very good for most networks. Guests are welcome to use our telephone for a nominal charge.
